This has always been one of my favorite educator and writer gatherings.

I hope to see you there:

I invite you to the 2015 Conference on College Composition and Communication Annual Convention in Tampa, Florida, for a different kind of R&R: Risk and Reward. This theme acknowledges that risk is critical for innovation and action, two key outcomes I hope we can all foster at the 2015 CCCC Convention. When you join us in Tampa, you’ll see that many of our members are transforming the work of writing and composition. - Joyce Locke Carter Program Chair 2015 CCCC Annual Convention

Set among the panels with more traditional emphases on pedagogy, methods, and writing are many panels that challenge us to reflect on the way we define our discipline and legitimize one another’s work. Several of our members are stretching disciplinary boundaries by creating interdisciplinary courses with STEM fields. Others have taken entrepreneurial roles not typically associated with writing teachers.

Perhaps equally interesting as panelists’ contributions are risks we are taking with traditional CCCC events and spaces. Join us in Tampa to experience the new Writing for Change collaboration space; Dialogs designed to engage our membership in difficult conversations around important issues in our field; the Ignite Showcase, which will highlight cutting-edge innovations in composition; and are designed Saturday format, which will allow for greater discussion about policy and action. "I invite you to take part in all of these new initiatives, as well as a special session on the CCCC Vision Statement and how it impacts the future of our organization," Locke Carter said.

This year they aim to take the energy we always generate at the Convention into action in the months beyond. By celebrating the outcomes of risks—including failures and successes.

This is a great opportunity to encourage each other to take innovative actions in our classrooms, departments, and public policies.
